The New Mexico Commission for Deaf and Hard of Hearing and Rio Grande Communication Access are pleased to offer a no-cost community-driven workshop designed to reconnect interpreters with the purpose, privilege, and impact of their work. We aim to foster a renewed sense of professional pride, accountability, and collaboration through relationship-building, Deaf-led insight, and shared problem solving. 0.3 PPO PS CEUs.Through an advocacy presentation by Corina Gutierrez and a panel of consumers with lived experience, participants will identify:
-Behaviors that enhance Deaf consumers’ autonomy, communication access, and self-advocacy
-Systemic barriers that commonly arise in interpreted environments
-An actionable strategy to foster stronger relationships with Deaf individuals and affirm the privilege of interpreting

Event will be in ASL and spoken English. Interpreters provided.
