    NMCDHH Interpreter Apprentice Program wants you for FY 25!

    The New Mexico Commission for Deaf & Hard of Hearing Apprenticeship Program is a part time, paid 12-month program designed to help interpreters develop their tools and knowledge to effectively interpret in a variety of scenarios and to prepare for a national level interpreter assessment. This program is not limited to recent graduates of an interpreter training program but is open to all interpreters who are eligible for a New Mexico Provisional Interpreter License.  The FY 25 program will run July 2024 to June 2025.

    • Receive the opportunity to contract with the Commission after successfully completing the apprenticeship

    Applications will be due no later than 2:00 pm MST on Monday April 1, 2024, with interviews to follow.

    Please Note, this apprenticeship is not designed to be full time interpreting work. Selected apprentices will be expected to establish other interpreting contracts in addition to this program.

    Signed Language Interpreting Practices Board Meeting

    The Signed Language Interpreting Practices Board will convene a regular board meeting on Thursday, April 4th, 2024. The meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will held at the Regulation and Licensing Department, 5500 San Antonio Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87109. The meeting agenda will be posted and available at least 72 hours before the board meeting on the Board’s Website.
    If you are an individual with a disability who needs a reader, amplifier, qualified signed language interpreter, or any other form of auxiliary aid or service to attend or participate in the board meeting, please contact the Board Administrator, Pauline M. Varela at 505-476-4622.

    Individuals who would like to participate and offer public comment must appear in person. The members of the Signed Language Interpreting Practices Board may ask questions for clarification but will not engage in substantive discussion of public comments or take formal action on an item of business unless noticed in the meeting agenda. Issues raised in public comment may be placed on the agenda for a future public meeting for discussion or action.
    For inclement weather: If New Mexico state offices are placed on a two-hour delay due to inclement weather, the board meeting will be pushed back two hours from the noticed meeting time. If New Mexico state offices are closed due to inclement weather, the board meeting will be rescheduled as soon as possible.
